Built Under the Stars: The Story Behind Seestar S50 Pro
On June 6, 2026, 15 members of our software, hardware, and product teams packed up several Seestar S50 Pro & S30 Pro units and left the office for Ningguo, Anhui.
The plan was simple: take S50 Pro out of the lab and spend a night testing it under a real sky.
We arrived in the afternoon, and by sunset, everyone was already getting the equipment ready. That evening, we were lucky with the weather. The sky was clear, and as the last light faded behind the mountains, stars slowly began to appear. Before long, we could see the Big Dipper overhead and the Milky Way stretching across the sky.
Soon, S50 Pro units were lined up in the field, pointing in different directions.
For most of the night, everyone was busy. We tested imaging, tracking, and different features, checked the results, found problems, adjusted settings, and tried again. Some of the team stayed outside working until two or three in the morning. Colleagues who couldn't join the trip were also online, helping us check logs and troubleshoot issues remotely.
But there were also moments when we simply stopped and looked around.
There were fireflies everywhere.
Tiny lights moved through the grass while stars filled the sky above us. Someone mentioned that they hadn't seen so many fireflies since childhood, and suddenly we were talking about summer nights growing up, fields back home, and the first time we became curious about the night sky.
It was a small moment, but one I still remember clearly.
We spend so much time discussing optics, software, tracking, and user experience in the office. That night, standing beside S50 Pro under the Milky Way, those things felt a little different.
Every problem we found meant something we could improve. Every improvement might eventually make someone's night under the stars a little easier.
And perhaps that's the best part of working on Seestar.
We build tools to explore the sky, but sometimes, the process reminds us why we looked up in the first place.
